We always get
asked, what is the difference between
CD-R Duplication
and CD-ROM Replication (Click Here for more info). The answer depends on time
and quantity of Discs.
CD Duplication or
CD-R Duplication is the process of burning a Disc just like you do on your
desktop computer. The only difference is that we use a Professional grade CD-R ,
and we print using Thermal Printing or Silk screening, which will yield a
professional looking Disc, reliable and durable.
CD or DVD
duplication is typically used for quantity of 1,000 or less. Also if you need the
Disc in 3 days or less we recommend CD Duplication.
CD-ROM or DVD Replication
is the process of creating a Disc from scratch. After receiving the customer
Disc a Glass master is created. The Glass master is a Mold that has the same data
as the customer CD. The second step is to install the Glass master in the
injection molding machine to Mold or press the CD-ROM at high temperature. The
Third step is to deposit an Aluminum layer on the Disc to create the shiny
reflective surface. The complete process takes 3.0 Second or less! The cost and
the time for the tooling and setups makes it cost prohibitive to do Replication
for less than 300 Disc.
The above information also applies to DVD Replication, Pressing and Manufacturing.
