You will also need an expert operator with a typical Salary of $6,000 per month. The Process allows you to print full color on the Disc. Production Speed is about 1 Disc/second for a full color print. Setup time for an expert is about 45 minutes. Consumables are about $94 per job. You will need a new setup for new artwork.
DVD silkscreen printers apply ink to a screen which penetrate areas of the screen that are not blocked by the stencil. The Printing process for DVD-R Silk Screening, Blu Ray Silk Screening or Replicated Discs is the same.
A typical Silk Screening Machine has 5 Print Heads. These heads can be configured with a variety of color combination from Pantone Color management (PMS) colors to four-color process (CYMK) and metallic or white. You have many color options in Disc silk screen printing technology than in label printing (paper labels are bad).
Silk Screening allows you to print full Color on the Disc with white or silver background. The result is a high-quality, attractive professional looking Disc, water resistant, scratch resistant, last longer and cheaper to produce in volume.
Virtually all Software and Music discs are Silk Screened. Video Disc (DVD or Blu Ray) are typically Offset Printed.
Printing 500 DVDs or more can easily be done in a short period of time on a silks screen machine. You should definitely outsource to a DVD silkscreen printing company as a first option.
You should not pay a setup fees for any quantity because it is built in to the price already. You can get a huge discounts if you print 10,000 DVD-Rs or DVD-Rs, and if you order regularly. If you need to print variable data print (VDP) on the Disc (i.e. dates, control numbers, serial numbers, etc.) expect to pay more.
Although we recommend 200 units as a minimum because it is economical, you can really order one if you like. Contact your service rep for pricing (800) 819-3362
There are several different methods available to make one or multiple copies of existing CDs or DVD ranging from single CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R/W and CD-R/RW recorders to specialized devices that automatically duplicate and label discs and, for large runs, commercial mass replication. Options are distinguished by cost, speed, turn around time, convenience and capability. When dealing with commercial software and audio discs keep in mind copyright laws and that copy protection systems may be employed to hinder straightforward duplication.
In contrast to CD/DVD duplication which is usually performed on a small scale at the desktop level, CD/DVD mass replication is typically used to make huge quantities of discs such as commercial audio CDs, software CD-ROMs and DVD Movies. These prerecorded (pressed) discs are manufactured from a mold in a factory setting and are created using a series of industrial processes including premastering, mastering, electroplating, injection molding, metallization, spin coating, printing and advanced quality control. In addition to manufacturing discs many replication companies offer companion services including packaging, printing, distribution and fulfillment.
