Providing eDocPublish.com with a DVD Image File on a DLT tape or DVD-R ready for Playback and Replication

A DVD image file is an identical copy of the data that will be placed on one layer of one side of a DVD disc. DVD-ROM images are produced through premastering and DVD-Video images are produced through authoring.

DVD image sources on:

DLT (Digital Linear Tape) CompacTape III or III XT cartridges with capacities up to 15 GB (uncompressed). One tape is needed for each layer on each side. Tapes should be ANSI labeled (X3.27) and blocked in as large of blocks as possible. DVD-ROM images should be formatted to the UDF (Universal Disc Format) or UDF/ ISO Bridge standards. Each DLT tape should include the following information in this sequence:

  • Beginning of Tape

  • DDPID (file 1) (requires DDP v2.0)

  • DDPMS (file 2) (requires DDP v2.0)

  • DVD lead in control data (file 3)

  • DVD Program Data (file 4)

  • End of Tape

The first three files above can be submitted on a separate floppy disk.

Please clearly identify each DLT tape. If it is a DVD 5, please label as such. For DVD 9, label the tape for the first layer to be played as "DVD 9, Layer 0" and the tape for the second layer to be played as "DVD 9, Layer 1". Each of these tapes should also be labeled with the path method used: Parallel Track Path (PTP) or Opposite Track Path (OTP). Please include a list of known defects approved for production, program time, chapter start times, and menu access points.
